Amite coach indicted on sex charges

A Liberty man has been indicted for allegedly molesting two girls while working as a coach at Amite County High School, according to Amite County Circuit Court records:
Kevin Cope, 43, 4123 Highway 567, was charged with two counts gratification of lust for incidents at the school on Aug. 7 and Sept. 20, 2019.

Louisiana man charged in Amite rural shoot-out

A Louisiana man has been charged with three counts aggravated assault for a shootout at a rural residence outside Gloster, Amite County sheriff officials said.
Waylon Prevost Jr., 51, Abita Springs, La., is out of jail on $15,000 bond following the Wednesday night incident.

Silver alert issued for Tylertown woman

A Silver Alert has been issued for 79-year-old Pamela Jean Perez of Tylertown.
She is a 5-foot-5, 130-pound white female with gray hair and brown eyes.
She was last seen just before 10 a.m. Tuesday near Obed Magee Road in Walthall County wearing gray sweatpants, a red T-shirt and a tan baseball cap.
