More than 100 people from Pike County joined thousands from across the state Wednesday at a Franklin Graham prayer rally outside the state Capitol in Jackson.

Buses from several local churches drove in rainy weather that cleared up in time for the 45-minute event.

Brown homers in Parklane win against Oak Forest

Quartez Brown knocked in three runs as Parklane Academy’s baseball team won 7-2 at home against Oak Forest Academy Thursday.

Brown hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Parklane (12-8) and singled in the fourth and fifth innings.

Smokin’ on the Tracks fires up Friday

Summit’s fifth annual Smokin’ on the Tracks barbecue cookoff kicks off Friday.

The event starts at 5 p.m. with live music and food and that runs to 9 p.m.

The town will close Robb Street at noon Friday.

The festival grounds will run along Robb Street and Railroad Street.

Ja’terrious Wilson of McComb threw a complete game one-hitter in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Richland Friday to give the Tigers a 1-0 win.

Wilson recorded five strikeouts while giving up one walk.

The Tigers won the series against the Rangers 2-1.
