School: Lockdowns lifted after threat suspect arrested

A person accused of making bomb threats at Amite County schools has been apprehended, according to a notice that one school sent to parents on Friday morning.
Bomb threats prompted lockdowns at Amite County schools on Thursday and Friday.
The threat involved Amite County High School.

Gov. asks for federal aid for tornado recovery

Man gets 20 years in child’s death

A McComb man has been sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter in connection with the death in 2022 of his 2-year-old son.
Demeatrice Ashley, whose last known address was 1058 Highway 98 East, was sentenced on March 5 in Circuit Judge David Strong’s court.
