Arrest made in McComb killing

McComb police have filed murder charges against a man accused of gunning down another man in a convenience store parking lot last month.
David Brent, 25, is accused of shooting Marvin Swington, 35, to death at Lucky’s Quick Stop, 800 Summit St., just before 10 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Brookhaven man booked on Amite rape charge

A Brookhaven man has been booked on rape charges in Amite County following an alleged weekend assault on a 17-year-old girl.
Michael Ward of Brookhaven remained jailed Friday morning on $40,000 bond following the incident that occurred on Sunday at a house on Oxford-Meadville Road, Sheriff Tim Wroten said.

The Junior Auxiliary of McComb will host its 59th annual Azalea Ball at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the McComb Mill on South Broadway.
During the festivities, the 2020 queen and king, Andy Watson and Moncia Garner, will be honored, and the new royal couple for 2022 will be presented.
