The Junior Auxiliary of McComb will host its 59th annual Azalea Ball at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the McComb Mill on South Broadway.
During the festivities, the 2020 queen and king, Andy Watson and Moncia Garner, will be honored, and the new royal couple for 2022 will be presented.
The ball is the sole fundraiser for the McComb JA and its many service projects.
The McComb chapter of JA, a service organization was started in 1938 by local women who wanted to assist children in their growth, health and education.
The chapter was chartered in 1941 and is part of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries. The local JA has 42 active members, six associate members and 259 life members.
The provisional class includes seven women.
This year, local Junior Auxiliary service projects include Fill-Up/Build-Up, local and national scholarships, Ready to Read/Bookshelf Boogie, Crown Club, Puppet Power, Kind Kidz and Camp Sunshine, a summer camp for mentally and physically challenged adults and children held annually at Percy Quin State Park.
This year’s Azalea Ball theme, The Lost City, will celebrate past and present JA projects and involvement in the community.
