Uniforms eyed at McComb High

McComb School District officials are proposing a uniform dress code at the high school for next year — a response, in part, to the school shootings in Newtown, Conn.

High school principal Robert Lamkin told trustees Tuesday that he favors student uniforms to help maintain security at the campus.

McComb schools superintendent stepping down by summer

McComb School District Superintendent Therese Palmertree announced Tuesday night that she will be retiring this year.

Palmertree, who became interim superintendent in June 2007 after the departure of Dr. Pat Cooper, became full-time superintendent in February 2008.

Piggly Wiggly of Summit proves it’s a hometown grocery store every day, but on at least six Fridays preceding holidays throughout the year, shoppers get a special treat with ribeye steak dinners — grilled fresh on the spot.

For the July 4 weekend this year, Piggly Wiggly sold 1,317 dinners — that’s 659 pounds of ribeye steak.
