Teacher brings experiences from trip to Japan back to local classroom

When Gail Spinnato traveled to Japan this past summer as part of the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program, she crammed as much of the country’s culture she could into her 18-day trip.

S. Pike tightens reins: Schools alter discipline policy

A disciplinary policy change in the South Pike School District has strengthened punishment for anyone involved in assault, battery or fighting on school grounds.

School trustees on Monday unanimously agreed to change the illegal conduct section of the student handbook.

If you build it, they will come. Remember that line from “Field of Dreams”? McComb has an official cinema site now, with movies showing daily at the State Theater. The Pike County Arts Council has “built” it, but the audiences aren’t coming in numbers expected.
