Retiring Southwest Mississippi Narcotics Enforcement Unit commander Tim Vanderslice said he may consider running for Pike County sheriff again.

Vanderslice lost a close race in 2015 to Pike County Sheriff Kenny Cotton, who won with 51 percent of the vote.

Summit police chief loses home to fire

A fire early Tuesday morning destroyed the home of Summit Police Chief James Isaac.

McComb Fire Department Capt. David Fischer said firefighters along with help from the Summit and Sunnyhill volunteer fire departments responded to the fire at 6014 Enterprise Road at 4:52.

Man says he traced his stolen property back to burglar

A Pike County man is behind bars after the victim of a burglary allegedly caught him trying to sell his stolen property.

Eric Lenoir, 22, 3173 Magnolia-Holmesville Road, was charged Wednesday with burglary of a dwelling, conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of stolen property.

Local law enforcement receives opioid training

Local law enforcement officers recently received training on how to use a life-saving drug as an effort to combat the opioid epidemic.

Three hour-long training sessions on how to administer the drug naloxone, which reverses the effects of opioids, were recently held, including one Friday morning at the Pike County Safe Room.
