Pike County sheriff’s deputies captured a convicted sex offender who went on the lam last week.

Authorities arrested 41-year-old LeRoy Taylor III on Friday when Taylor’s church pastor turned him in after reading an Enterprise-Journal article that named Taylor as a wanted man, Chief Investigator Lance Falvey said.

Pike County sheriff’s deputies are trying to locate a convicted sex offender who is on the loose.

Chief Investigator Lance Falvey identified the man as 41-year-old LeRoy Taylor, 4085 Emerald State Line Road, northeast of Osyka.

Taylor is wanted on a charge of failing to register as a convicted sex offender.

Mother presses charges against deputies

A woman filed charges against two Pike County sheriff’s deputies Tuesday, alleging they assaulted her 15-year-old son at the recent Pike County Fair.

Toshiba Lewis filed the simple assault charges in Pike County Justice Court against deputies Smithie Buie and Bena Williams.
