Police nab suspect in McComb shooting

Shortly after the Enterprise-Journal published a photo of a shooting suspect in Thursday’s edition, the McComb Police Department received a tip that immediately led to the man’s arrest.

Officers apprehended 22-year-old Lejarick Deshun James without incident in the 700 block of 24th Street.

LIBERTY — While electrical services were restored to most of Amite County Tuesday night, trees and debris still remained scattered throughout Liberty this morning after a brief but powerful storm moved through Tuesday, damaging homes and businesses and uprooting hundreds of trees.

Storms lash area

Authorities in southwest Mississippi battled downed tree limbs and power outages this morning brought on by inclement weather and an apparent tornado.

Liberty Mayor Ricky Stratton said he received several eyewitness reports of a twister that touched down on the south side of Main Street and blew an elevated building off its blocks.
