Pike deputies locate abducted child, 4

Pike County sheriff’s deputies located a 4-year-old child who was the subject of a statewide Amber Alert early this morning

Deputies located the child, Lincoln Green of Pearl, at about 5:20 a.m. after conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 55 near Exit 8, Chief Investigator Lance Falvey said.

Man shot dead in Brookhaven

Police are investigating a fatal shooting that occured Tuesday in Brookhaven.

Brookhaven Chief of Police Bobby Bell said officers received a 911 call at about 1:03 p.m. and responded to 227 Washington St., where they found a man lying in the yard.

Burglund robbery probed

McComb police responded to a report of a strong-armed robbery Sunday in the 900 block of Summit Street.

Yvette Martin of Leroy Coney Road, southeast of Magnolia, told officers she was struck in the back of the head and robbed of her cellphone and a small amount of cash around 5:30 a.m., Detective Shannon Sullivan said.

Pike County sees deadliest weekend of year

Pike County sheriff’s deputies are investigating three fatalities that occurred over one of the deadliest weekends in the area so far this year.

On Saturday night, Timothy Butler, 41, 2099 Barnett Road, Summit, died from a gunshot wound in the county’s first homicide this year.
