Board hears first public comments on proposed rental ordinance

The McComb city board heard comments from concerned residents regarding a proposed rental property ordinance at Tuesday’s work session.
The proposed ordinance would require landlords to buy privilege licenses and have their rental units undergo annual inspections.

Insurance companies working overtime after storm

Monday night’s storm not only rained hail, it prompted a deluge of business for local insurance agencies.
“We are swamped,” said an employee at The Stogner Agency who asked not to be named. “We have lots of auto and home claims, as well as some commercial business claims.”

Suspect charged in robberies

After three armed robberies over the weekend, McComb police and Pike County sheriff’s officials arrested a man Sunday whom they believe is a suspect behind a string of recent robberies.

Police Chief Greg Martin said Robert Young was arrested Sunday and is in the Pike County jail.

Industrial park paving plans proceeding

The Magnolia city board voted unanimously at a special meeting Thursday to move forward with a paving plan for Jesse Hall Memorial and McKay roads.

The board secured a $350,000 loan from the Mississippi Development Authority to help fund the repair project.
