McComb 10's send two teams to Dixie state tournament

Despite losing to their National League counterparts in the South sub-district tournament, the McComb American League All-Stars will take part in the state tournament in Mendenhall beginning July 18.

McComb’s softball supremacy

The McComb 8-and-under softball All-Stars did not just win the 2014 United States Fastpitch Association Mississippi state championship — they dominated it.

The girls completed the summer tournament season with a perfect 7-0 record, winning those seven games by a combined score of 125-39 on their way to both district and state titles.

The McComb 12-year-old National League All-Stars, coached by Pender Johnson, won another District 6 title for the city Thursday night with a 4-3 victory over Franklin County in the district title game in Brookhaven.

McComb adds two titles

McComb’s 7-year-old National League All-Stars, coached by Blake Brewer, clinched the city’s first state championship of the summer with a 9-8 victory over the Hattiesburg American League All-Stars Tuesday night in Laurel.

The team was a perfect 6-0 at the state tournament.
