Students evaluated, checked out after eating classmate's cookies

Some North Pike Junior High School students went home early Monday after some of them expressed feeling discomfort after buying and consuming cookies and candy from a classmate.
A statement from the school sent to parents on Monday made no mention of the cookies and candies containing drugs.

Southwest softball secures road sweep of Holmes

Southwest's softball team traveled to Goodman on Saturday to take on the Holmes Lady Bulldogs in a doubleheader, winning both games 3-0 and 5-4.

In Game One, Allie Ladnier started on the mound for the Lady Bears and pitched the entire game.

Edmonson earns 100th win as Southwest baseball sweeps Holmes

Southwest's baseball team hosted Holmes on Saturday in a doubleheader that saw the Bears win 6-2 and 14-5.

Matt Newman started on the mound for Southwest in Game One.

Newman pitched seven innings for the Bears with four strikeouts on two hits and no runs allowed. Newman also picked up the win for Southwest.

Tylertown's Anthony wins 60m gold at World Athletics Indoor Championships

Tylertown native Jordan Anthony made international headlines over the weekend when he took home gold in the men's 60m race at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland.

Making his major championship debut Friday, Anthony finished with a time of 6.41, the current fastest time in the world and the fourth-fastest in history.
