Part of an old tree fell onto power lines this morning in Magnolia, leaving nearly 500 customers out of power, according to the Entergy website.
The tree has been on the radar of the Magnolia city board for two years. Alderman Joe Cornacchione said today he has warned Magnolia officials in the past, “If it comes down it’ll put the whole town out of power.”
“And it came down and put the whole town out of power," Cornacchione said this morning.
The tree was located on north Cherry Street, behind Beacham Memorial Hospital, Cornacchione said. Entergy crews were on site at 7:58 a.m., and power is not expected to return until noon.
