A body found near a water tower in Hinds County on Christmas Day has been identified as that of a McComb woman who was reported missing last year, Jackson news media reported.
Sheriff Tyree Jones said the remains were those of Chantel McCray, 29.
He said McCray’s silver Nissan was found Oct. 23 on Wynndale Road where her body was found, which is just north of Terry and about three-quarters of a mile off Interstate 55.
No cause of death has been determined, and an autopsy has been ordered, Jones said.
Pike County sheriff’s officials said shortly after McCray was reported missing that she was at high risk because of medical issues.
She was last seen around Fernwood on Oct. 18, Pike County sheriff’s officials said.
