A man was wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon at a house in McComb.
Elijah Cromedy, 19, was shot around 3 p.m. at 523 Hillcrest Ave., Police Chief Juan Cloy said.
Cromedy went by ambulance to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, but his wounds were severe enough that he had to be driven by ambulance to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He would have otherwise been airlifted but bad weather grounded the helicopter at the hospital, Cloy said.
Cloy said no one had been taken into custody immediately after the shooting, but he said police were looking for a person of interest.
He would not say if the suspect had entered the house or how many times Cromedy was shot. A motive was unclear as well, Cloy said.
