Summit tables vote on raises

A vote to give Summit’s elected officials pay raises won’t happen until November at the earliest after some council members who would benefit from the move expressed concerns over its timing.
Councilwoman Pauline Monley had proposed raises for the mayor and four council members.

One killed in Thursday night wreck

One person was killed and others were injured in a wreck on Van Norman Curve Road just east of McComb just before midnight Thursday.
The wreck took place in the 2100 block of Van Norman Curve Road, between Highway 44 and McComb-Holmesville Road.
The wreck involved a car and an SUV.

Brookhaven man dies in motorcycle accident on I-55

A Brookhaven man died in a motorcycle accident on Interstate 55 in Summit on Wednesday morning, the Mississippi Highway Patrol reported.
Joseph Lodrigue, 29, was killed in the accident when his northbound 1986 Honda left the roadway and struck the cable barrier, MHP spokesman Craig James said.
