Brookhaven Mayor Joe Cox lost a close race to challenger Larry Jointer in Tuesday’s election, with Jointer claiming victory by a margin of 37 votes.
Jointer, a Democrat, will take office on July 1.
Cox, a Republican, defeated Jointer by just 27 votes four years ago.
