Pike County and Walthall County have been designated a primary disaster area by the U.S. Department of Agriculture after storms and flooding on Jan. 9 and 10.
This makes farmers in these counties, plus the adjoining counties of Amite, Lincoln, Lawrence and Marion, eligible for Farm Service Agency emergency loans.
