Man booked after home invasion, shooting

Brookhaven police arrested a man after he broke into a home and shot a woman shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday on East Chickasaw Street.
Timothy Terrell Hudson, 32, allegedly broke into the home and demanded money before shooting the homeowner in the chest, according to Police Chief Kenneth Collins.

McComb school trustee confirms dismissal of Ellis

McComb school board member Lynn Martin confirmed Friday that the school board fired Superintendent Dr. Cederick Ellis on Tuesday night.
Martin said the vote to dismiss was 3-2, but she declined to say how the board members voted. Martin, the first school official to speak publicly about Ellis, also declined to discuss the matter further.

Man wounded in Progress shooting

A Pike County man was wounded in a shooting Thursday night in the Progress community, and authorities are trying to identify a suspect, Sheriff James Brumfield said Friday.
He said Donnie Cockerham was wounded in the shooting that occurred on Pumping Station Road.
