Brookhaven police arrested a man after he broke into a home and shot a woman shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday on East Chickasaw Street.
Timothy Terrell Hudson, 32, allegedly broke into the home and demanded money before shooting the homeowner in the chest, according to Police Chief Kenneth Collins.
The victim was airlifted to a hospital, where she is recovering from her injuries and was responsive and alert when questioned by officers, Collins said. He did not identify the victim.
Hudson fled toward East Monticello street, where he allegedly robbed a Family Dollar before fleeing again.
Hudson was apprehended and arrested at approximately 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Oyo Motel on Highway 51 North, Collins said.
