McComb bluesman Mr. Sipp receives Grammy nomination

McComb native and Malaco Records recording artist Castro “Mr. Sipp” Coleman has garnered a Grammy nomination for his latest album and appears on another recording that has also received a Grammy nod.
Coleman was nominated for Best Traditional Blues Album for his recording “The Soul Side of Sipp.”

Justices reject Godbolt’s motion to appeal conviction

A man who was convicted of killing eight people in Lincoln County in a 2017 shooting spree won’t get to argue for an appeal before the Mississippi Supreme Court, justices ruled Thursday.
Willie Cory Godbolt’s appeal was denied in a split decision by the court.

Officials: No runoffs needed for county elections

There will be no runoffs after all in Amite and Walthall counties for candidates who garnered less than half of the vote in Tuesday’s elections.
Officials from both counties said Thursday that county races in which the top vote-getters fell short of the 50-plus-one-vote margin aren’t subject to a runoff election.
