Missing Magnolia man found dead

The body of a Magnolia man who has been missing for weeks was found in thick woods and Walthall County on Thursday, officials said.
Reco Varnado, who was reported missing on Nov. 17, died after his vehicle went off the road and into woods on Dillon’s Bridge road, Pike County Sheriff Wally Jones said.

Search on for robbery suspect

Authorities were looking for a man who robbed a Summit convenience store Thursday night.

The Pure convenience store near Interstate 55 was robbed around 7:20 p.m.

Authorities said the robber held the clerk at gunpoint and demanded money before fleeing the store.

FEMA awards $6.4M to Walthall for tornado debris removal

Walthall County will receive federal disaster recovery funds to help pay $6.4 million worth of debris removal in the wake of a deadly tornado outbreak last year.
Supervisor Roger Ginn clarified Friday that FEMA will give the county $4,294,046, with the difference coming from an even split in county and state funding.
