Summit officials raise taxes during special meeting

Summit officials agreed to raise taxes by 3 mills in a special meeting on Monday, Mayor Percy Robinson said.
The additional tax millage, which will add about $30 a year in taxes on a $100,000 home, is the first tax increase for the town in more than 10 years, officials said.

Man pleads guilty to sexual abuse

A Pike County man will serve 20 years in prison with no chance of early release after he admitted sexually abusing a child.
Judge Mike Taylor sentenced Stafford Ross, 57, after he pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual battery Tuesday in Pike County Circuit Court.
