Man involved in scuffle says officer should not face demotion

Bryan Bellipanni does not believe McComb police officer Steve Powell should have been demoted from captain to lieutenant after a recent altercation between the two men at a local restaurant.
Powell reportedly threw Bellipanni to the ground and held him until police arrived at Tortilla Soup at around 7 p.m. June 15.

Police official appeals demotion

McComb police officer Steve Powell is appealing his demotion from captain to lieutenant that stemmed from an altercation last month at the Tortilla Soup restaurant on Anna Drive.
But there were differences of opinion on who’s at fault for the disturbance.

City board reappoints officials

McComb selectmen retained all appointed city personnel from the previous administration and removed the interim tags from the job title of City Administrator David Myers and City Clerk Rosezea Scott on Tuesday.
But one selectman questioned the effectiveness of the city’s police chief.
