3 file so far in Ward 4 race

Three people have filed papers to run for McComb’s open Ward 4 city board seat, Mayor Quordiniah Lockley said.
A special election is set for Oct. 18 to fill the seat that became vacant when Selectman John Bates died earlier this month.
The filing deadline is next week, Sept. 28.

Crews fix pumping station causing raw sewage leak

Resident: Sewer malfunction fouls area

Foul smells and raw sewage running along Maddox Avenue during heavy rains has vexed residents for about a month, but McComb’s public works director said crews are expected to begin tackling the problem this morning.
Resident Wenzo Taylor said the problems have caused untreated wastewater to pool near her home.

Probe ongoing in holiday weekend shooting

Sheriff’s investigators are still looking for multiple suspects in a Labor Day weekend shooting in east McComb in which gunmen shot into an occupied apartment.
Chief Deputy Brad Bellipanni said nobody was wounded in the shooting that took place at about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 4.
