PALS gets two more years to build animal shelter

Pike Animal League and Shelter Rescue officials have an additional two years to build an animal shelter in the old Pike County Industrial Park.

Pike County supervisors, who donated the land to PALS in 2007, voted 4-0 Wednesday to grant the extension and give PALS more time to get funding and build a facility.

Robbery victim dies: Authorities searching for clues

Peggy Sue Wilkinson Carter died Sunday from injuries she received in what Pike County authorities believe may have been a robbery of the Express Cash on River Ridge Road early Saturday.

No arrests have been made in the case, and officials released few details as they continued their probe.
