With a desire to serve and a blessing from God, Sam Hall recently chartered the first Pike County financial institution to form in 20 years.

Hall, who is president and CEO of First Unity Federal Credit Union, said God encouraged him to provide financial services to Pike, Amite and Walthall counties.

City mulls making businesses bury lines

Some new commercial businesses in McComb will be required to run power lines underground to their buildings if changes to the architectural control ordinance are approved next week.

City zoning and inspection director Walter Temple presented ordinance changes to the city board on Tuesday.

Fiber web offer fading

When the clock tolls midnight on Thursday C Spire will pull the plug on its offer to lay free, cutting-edge fiber-optic Internet cables throughout McComb — if enough residents don’t pre-register.

And as the numbers stand now, there’s a good chance that come New Year’s Day, the offer will be nothing more than a missed opportunity.
