Ellis: MHS won’t be a failing school next year

When McComb School District Superintendent Dr. Cederick Ellis presented his 100th-day progress report to the community, he shared some revealing data, including the fact that as of Nov. 15, early and late student checkouts since August had cost the McComb School District nearly $43,000 in state funding.

Civil War veteran’s daughter Barron dies at 106

Mildred Belle Martin Barron, Mississippi’s last living daughter of a Confederate soldier, died today at her Amite County home after suffering a stroke. She would have been 107 years old on Jan. 27.

Mrs. Barron had two daughters, Cherrie Randall, with whom she lived, and Patty Breckenridge.
