Amite superintendent: Schools see smooth start to year

LIBERTY — Amite County School District Superintendent Scotty Whittington described the first few days of the new school year as the smoothest he’s witnessed, as students and teachers return to campuses.

“I’ve never seen a beginning as calm and peaceful,” Whittington told school trustees on Thursday.
