Bulldogs win with muscle

MEADVILLE — The Franklin County Bulldogs used four quarters of smash-mouth football to knock Hazlehurst into submission 21-6 Friday night in Louie Mullins Memorial Stadium.

Franklin County got 110 yards rushing and two touchdowns from quarterback Jamie Collins in the win.

Ferriday All-Stars lose in opener

The Ferriday All-Stars lost in the opening round of the Louisiana State Dixie Debs fastpitch softball tournament. Ferriday lost to New Orleans 5-0 and will play in an elimination game today at 3.

The Ferriday All-Stars only dressed nine players beause of illness. The game was played with a heat index close to 110 degrees.

Beach wins Sun Belt title game

For Franklin County’s Colby Beach, his senior season at Western Kentucy will be one he and his teammates will always remember.

On Sunday in Lafayette, La., Beach and the Hilltoppers won 17-5 over conference rival New Orleans to win the Sun belt Conference Tournmanet and receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Bobcats put brakes on Bulldogs

SUMRALL — The season ended Monday night for the Franklin County Diamond Dawgs.

The Sumrall Bobcats knocked the team out of the playoffs with a resounding 17-0 victory to move on to the Class 3A South State Championship against Newton County on Thursday.
