Franklin County battles to advance to South State

SUMRALL — A crucial Game 3 of the Franklin County/Sumrall 3A Quarterfinals baseball series will take place tonight at 7 in Sumrall, with the winner advancing to this week’s South State Championship.

Saturday night, Sumrall (27-5) beat the Diamond Dawgs 9-3 in Game 2, a day after FC won 3-0 in Bude. Game 3 is scheduled for tonight.

Bulldogs sweep Panthers

MORTON — Paced by three hits each from Hunter Hatcher and Jordan Hunt, the Franklin County Bulldogs advanced past the second round of the Class 3A state playoffs for the first time since 1998.

The Bulldogs beat Morton 6-3 Friday night in Game 2 of the second round series to complete the sweep.

Bulldogs go up 1-0 in series

BUDE — Paced by a sound defense and timely hitting, the Franklin County Diamond Dawgs shut out the Morton Panthers 3-0 Thursday night to take a one-game lead in the best-of-three second round playoff series.

The Bulldogs travel to Morton tonight for a 6 p.m. start. If necessary, Game 3 has been scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday in Bude.
