BUDE — Hazlehurst edged Franklin County 12-11 in extra innings to earn the Indians’ first ever season sweep of the Bulldogs on a foggy night in the Franklin County Swamp.

The Indians (14-6, 6-2) clinched a playoff spot in the process, as Jarvis Warner, Deontea McKenzie and Gabriel Gray collected big hits for the visitors.

Hazlehurst upsets Franklin Co. in baseball

HAZLEHURST — As upsets go, this one was historic.

Led by Gabriel Gray, the Hazlehurst Indians collected a dramatic 9-8 victory over the Franklin County Bulldogs in Region 7-3A baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

It was the Indians’ first victory over Franklin County since 1978.

Franklin County wins one, ties one

ALEXANDRIA, La. — Junior KeKe Collins belted a three-run homer as Franklin County picked up its first win of the softball season, beating the Georgetown (La.) 10-3 Friday in the Tournament of Grace at Alexandria Softball Complex.

Franklin County (1-4-2) finished the nightcap with Calvin High (La.) in a 7-all tie.
