Franklin Co. advances to state tourney

Coached by James King Jr., Josh Matthews and James King Sr., the Franklin County 9-year-old All-Stars are headed to the state tournament this weekend.

The three-day state tournament will be held at the Mendenhall Youth Complex. Franklin County will play at 6 p.m. Friday.

Franklin County athletes All-District soccer MVPs

Krislyn Kent of the Franklin County girls’ soccer team and Ethan “Kemo” Verdin of the boys were All-District MVPs.

Sophomore Macy Ziskin was named All-District Goal Keeper, while defensive MVP's went to Morgan Moak and Bryce Gaglardi.

MVP midfielders were Jordan Cummings and Kyle McCormick.

Franklin County eliminated in first round of playoffs by Forest

For the second time in school history, the Franklin County Bulldogs were upset by a No. 4 seed in the first round of MHSAA Class 3A State Playoffs.

Paced by 218 yards rushing from Forest senior running back Mikell Daniels, the Bearcats pulled off a 14-0 win over the 7-3A district champion Bulldogs.
