Magnolia sees bright future in LED bulbs

Magnolia is gearing for a city-wide streetlight makeover by swapping out lamplights for an LED upgrade.

At its second board meeting of the month Tuesday evening, the board of aldermen accepted a $12,196 quote from Entergy for the city-wide LED upgrade, resulting in an estimated annual savings of $971.

Justices reject appeal

The Mississippi Supreme Court is refusing to hear an appeal from a man sentenced to 50 years for impregnating a 14-year-old Pike County girl.

Justices announced Thursday that they won’t review Clarence Lamar Lovett’s case after he filed for post-conviction relief.
