Deer captured at local restaurant

An escaped pet deer that showed up at Applebee’s Restaurant in McComb on Wednesday caused quite a stir, ending in its capture and euthanization.
The doe named Ellie, sporting a pink collar, somehow got loose from its owner and turned up in the parking lot around 11:30 a.m.

A world of tiny tormentors

I was cutting brush on a steep pond bank the other day when a wasp popped me under the left eye.
I scampered up the bank like a monkey up a rope and headed straight for my pickup truck, where I keep a pouch of chewing tobacco just for such occasions.

Sleeping bags have come long way over the years

I didn’t realize until recently that you could buy a sleeping bag for $10 — and apparently a pretty decent one at that.
I made the discovery when buying sleeping bags to hand out to homeless people in New Orleans along with other members of Enterprise Baptist Church, Liberty.
