Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Stephen Simpson did not formally announce his intentions to run against Attorney General Jim Hood next year when he met with the Southwest Mississippi Republican Party Thursday at Days Inn.
But he came awfully close, saying he plans to throw his hat in the race in January.
