Trojans within six late, can't hold off Hinds AHS

On the Amite County Trojans first drive of the third quarter, Tremonte Williams took off up the right side of the field for 70 yards, which put Amite County on the 10-yard line.

Two plays later, Tray Bateaste took the ball into the end zone to make the score 20-14 with the Hinds AHS Bulldogs leading.

Jaguars hold on against Wildcats

Phillip McCray scored 29 points to lead the North Pike Jaguars to a 64-58 victory over the Wilkinson County Wildcats.

With 42.3 seconds left in the game, McCray tied the game at 56-all.

After swapping free throws, LeMicheal Quin took the ball down court for another layup, taking a 60-58 lead.

Trojans don’t take advantage

The Amite County Trojans weren’t able to capitalize on fourth quarter chances against Jefferson County as the girls fell 35-27 and the boys lost 65-61 on Tuesday.

The Trojans trailed 64-61 and had two chances to tie the game, but failed on both attempts.

McComb splits with Brookhaven

The McComb Tigers split wins with the the Brookhaven Panthers on Friday night. The Lady Tigers lost 75-55, and the boys won 69-56.

“We played three quarters and didn’t show up in the fourth,” McComb head coach Angelia Johnson said.
