Jags look to second game against Cougars

The North Pike Jaguars will travel to Monticello Friday to take on Lawrence County in a non-district warm up for both teams.

North Pike lost to Brookhaven last week, while Lawrence County pulled off a stunner by beating traditional powerhouse Petal 39-6.

Powell runs around Jaguars

The North Pike Jaguars lost 37-6 to a speedy Brookhaven Panther team Friday night.

The Panther special teams eliminated any hopes for a North Pike upset with back-to-back kickoff returns.

“The kicking game was good tonight for us, but offensively it wasn't our night,” Brookhaven head coach Tucker Peavey said.

Smith faces 4A Brookhaven in first game at North Pike

The Jaguars from North Pike will host 4A powerhouse Brookhaven Friday night, and Jaguar head coach Chris Smith knows the Panthers will be a tough opening matchup.

“They’re good. You don’t get ranked No. 5 in the state for nothing,” he said.
