NATCHEZ — Beating a team twice is tough to do and beating a good team twice is a different story altogether.

The Centreville Tigers (12-2) showed that once again as they defeated the prevoiusly undefeated Trinity Episcopal Saints 35-14 to advance to the MPSA AA State Championship game on Friday against Marshall Academy.

Familiar territory: Centreville eager to face Trinity in South State

In the last week of the regular season Centreville Academy (11-2) lost to Trinity Episcopal (13-0) 36-22.

Round 2 between the Tigers and the Saints is Friday night in Natchez. But this time, an Academy 2A South State Championship and a trip to play at Mississippi College for the state title are on the line.

Tigers hope to dethrone Colonels

The Copiah Academy Colonels have played for the state championship the past two seasons, and Centreville Academy hopes to put a hitch in the Colonels’ plans for a third title bid.

In 2005, Copiah (11-1) lost in the championship game to Simpson and last year hoisted the state championship trophy.
