Parklane loses shot at No. 1, waits through bye week

Barring a Jackson Prep meltdown at Madison Ridgeland Academy later this week, the Parklane Pioneer team will likely have to travel to Pillow Academy to begin their quest for the 2008 championship after Monday’s 17-8 loss to the Patriots at Belhaven’s Smith Wills Stadium.

Pioneers win one before rain hits

JACKSON — The Parklane Pioneers traveled to Jackson’s Smith-Wills Stadium on Saturday in hopes of sweeping two games against the Jackson Prep Patriots and locking up the No. 1 seed in the AAA playoffs. Half of that goal was accomplished as the Pioneers fought off the Patriots in game one 5-4 to get the win.

Lady Pioneers drop consolation game

MADISON — After Friday’s AAA semifinal loss to Pillow Academy the Parklane Lady Pioneers faced a familiar foe in Jackson Prep in the consolation game of the Division I tournament.

Head coach Russell Cruise had hoped the outcome of this game would be much like the last time the two teams played — a Lady Pioneer victory.
