Jail fight victims still not named

Pike County sheriff’s officials still aren’t releasing names of the inmates involved in a Tuesday night fight as they continue the investigation into the melee and assess the potential threat of future disturbances.

Officials said they also have not found any weapon believed to have been used in attack.

Man jailed after trying to flee from deputies

A Tylertown man is in jail after he allegedly fled from Walthall County deputies during a roadblock Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m.

Sheriff Kyle Breland said Curtis Ratliff, 66 Lee Magee Road, Tylertown, has been charged with felony fleeing and felony possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy).

Controlled burns smoke Pike County

The thick smoke that choked the northern half of Pike County Monday afternoon came from mass controlled burns, fire officials said.

Summit Fire Chief Stan McMorris said the smoke thickened Monday evening.
