The wife of a former Bogue Chitto fire chief allegedly embezzled department funds for her own personal use while she acted as the department’s treasurer, according to an indictment recently handed down by a Lincoln County grand jury.
Helen Jean Mercier, 68, 2783 Highway 51 SE, Bogue Chitto, was arrested on Aug. 31.
