Slaying suspect out early

The man charged with murder in the weekend shooting death of Garland Monley was on parole for assault and drug charges at the time of the slaying, a judge said during Michael Alexander’s arraignment on Wednesday.

Alexander, 33, 455 Universal St., McComb, remains in the Pike County jail held on $1 million bond.

A McComb man has been charged with the Sunday morning shooting death of a man in Burglund.

Michael Alexander, 33, 455 Universal St., has been charged with murder of Garland R. Monley.

Detective Deska Varnado said officers responded to a call of shots fired at Community Park Apartments, 120 Gillis Circle, at 1:15.
