A manhunt resumed Tuesday for an inmate who escaped from the Amite County Jail last weekend, but the escapee’s trail ran cold after he apparently caught a ride, Amite County Sheriff Tim Wroten said.

Michael Wayne Young, 42, escaped through a fence in the exercise yard with the help of three other inmates around 5 p.m. Saturday.

Nunnery Vet Clinic open for business

Carrie Nunnery always wanted to be a veterinarian. It’s the only thing she’s ever wanted to do with her life.

Nunnery, who was born in Summit, grew up on a dairy farm.

“I’ve always had multiple animals. It’s like being a vet was my intended profession,” she said.
