Man faces attempted murder charges

Amite County Sheriff’s Department arrested two men over the weekend in conjunction with the shooting of a man, said Sheriff Tim Wroten.

Lazerrick Michell, 21, of Porter Lane in Gloster, turned himself in to deputies on Friday night for allegedly shooting a Liberty man with birdshot pellets, landing him an attempted murder charge.

Magnolia business reports weekend armed robbery

Magnolia police are looking for a suspect involved in an armed robbery at the Shell station on Highway 48 Saturday night.

The incident took place around 9 p.m. when a man entered the store and held the clerk at gunpoint while he demanded cash, according to Police Chief Ray Reynolds.
