Burglars nearly wipe home clean

McComb police say a man fell victim to burglars who virtually emptied his home this weekend.

Detective Josh Brown said Walter Williams called officers around 2 p.m. Saturday to report the incident. The back door of his West Michigan Avenue home was reportedly forced open.

Pike County sheriff’s officials have confirmed that the charred remains of a person found in a burned vehicle on Fernwood Road Tuesday are those of a female, and the case has officially been classified as a homicide.

- An EMS worker with AAA Ambulance Service holds a victim of a one-vehicle wreck on Interstate 55 South, just north of Chatawa Friday. There were five adults and five children in the vehicle at the time of the accident. All occupants were initially transported to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Two fatalities were confirmed.
