Dead body discovered near road

Authorities launched an investigation Wednesday after a Brookhaven police officer discovered a dead body near Washington Street in the southeastern part of the city.

Brookhaven officials are releasing little details at this time and have not said whether or not the case appears to be a homicide.

State and local authorities in Brookhaven launched an investigation Wednesday after a body was discovered near a residential street.

Brookhaven Chief of Police Bobby Bell said an officer discovered the body around 4:15 p.m. on South Washington Street, in southeast Brookhaven, while on patrol.

Franklin man in jail on drug charges

Franklin County sheriff’s deputies booked a Meadville man on Monday on drug charges stemming from an undercover operation that took place earlier this year.

Cenia Ford, 24, 5615 Southwest Bunkley Road, faces charges of selling a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and a probation violation.

Firefighters called to two scenes; home fire under investigation

Pike County firefighters stayed busy Monday night with two separate structure fires, one of which is being investigated as a possible arson.

McComb firefighters responded to a suspicious house fire at 11:50 p.m. at 435 Frank Mingo St. in the Baertown neighborhood.
