A man died Wednesday in an apparent logging accident in Amite County.
Justin “Tub” Kirkland, 39, of Liberty, died around 10:50 a.m. after a tree fell on top of him as he was cutting it down.
Amite County Coroner Cam Sharp said the accident occurred in a wooded area off of Nash Road, east of Gloster.
